As I started this week, I did like I always do...remember way back in 2009 when I found out about the amazing job opportunity at Camperdown Academy. It was such a whirlwind of a week! I went from being fresh out of college and teaching Math 100 at Anderson University to teaching full-time at a private school that celebrated dyslexia. I was perfectly content with knowing that I had given up on teaching kids...BUT GOD had different plans! I found out about the job on Tuesday night, submitted my resume by Wednesday, and interviewed on Thursday. When I was asked to come back on Friday for a fun day with the kids, I was so excited about the possibility of working at such a special school. I was given the opportunity to work her that Friday afternoon, and my official start date was January 1, 2010.
Over my 13 years at Camperdown, I've grown so much. I came in shy and lacking confidence, knowing nothing about the dyslexic learner! I have grown as an educator in so many ways, but I know that without my time at Camperdown I wouldn't have the confidence to branch out and do what God has called us to do. I have said from the very beginning that I love my job here at Camperdown so much that they would have to run me off, I would retire from here, or God would have to call me elsewhere...
Leaving Camperdown is truly one of the hardest things about moving! I truly love my job. I of course love my coworkers, but working with these kids and seeing the difference it makes has become such a part of my life. I know that God provisions for this, but knowing that when I come back from Christmas break I only have 11 weeks left here at this place I call home is really hard to think about...I can't imagine saying "see ya later," to this place!
